Changing, adding, or removing a name from one of our lottery tickets is not permitted. This is to ensure that the person (or people) who purchased the ticket are eligible to claim their prize.
In order to award any major prizes in our lotteries, MSWA are required to sight identification proving that the winning name(s) match the name(s) on the ticket. If a name has been changed or removed, it can lead to legal complications regarding who has the rightful claim to the prize.
Please note that if you win a prize and wish to share it with someone else, you are welcome to do so. Their name does not need to be on the ticket, as distributing any shared winnings will be your responsibility.
If you have purchased a ticket and still need to change, add, or remove a name, the best approach is to request a refund for your original ticket and purchase a new one. Any new tickets purchased will have a different ticket number from the original. Please note that requests for ticket refunds require written approval from the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor. This process may take a number of weeks.
