These are incredible odds when compared to the odds of winning first prize in (for example):

Australian taxation law states that lottery prize winnings are not taxable.
Although MSWA is a registered charity, lottery tickets are not considered a tax-deductible donation.
MSWA has a Privacy Policy which can be reviewed on the MSWA website at www.mswalottery.com.au/privacy-policy. All credit card details and transactions are conducted in line with current legislation. MSWA does not sell or share any personal data with any other parties.
The only winning tickets that are returned to the draw are the Early Bird and Mega Cash Prize winning tickets. We believe that this provides greater fairness and allows more people to win prizes in the lottery. This approach is approved by the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor.
MSWA are not authorised to process ticket refunds without written approval from the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor. This process may take a number of weeks. Refunds cannot be offered after the final prize draws have begun.
Changing, adding, or removing a name from one our lottery tickets is not permitted. This is to ensure that the person (or people) who purchased the ticket is eligible to claim their prize.
In order to award any of our major prizes in the Mega Home Lottery, MSWA are required to sight identification proving that the winning name(s) matches the name(s) on the ticket. If someone had changed the name(s) on that ticket (or removed the other person listed on the ticket) this would lead to legal complications around who has the right to claim the prize.
Please note that if you were to win a prize with your ticket and wanted to share that prize with another person, you would be welcome to do so – their name doesn’t need to be on the ticket, as it would be your responsibility to share any prizes.
If you have purchased a ticket and would like to change, add or remove a name then the best approach is to request a refund for your original ticket and purchase a new ticket. Any new tickets purchased would have a different ticket number than the original ticket. Please note that requests for ticket refunds need written approval from the Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor commission. This process may take a number of weeks. Refunds cannot be issued after the prize draws have begun.
